Hardware and operating system

Meganerd.nl is running on a Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosted by TransIP in the Netherlands. The operating system of the VPS is OpenBSD, a FREE Unix-like operating system. I love OpenBSD because it’s a very well-engineered and very complete, yet minimalistic operating system focused on security and correctness. Read about it’s goals here.

Software

Although the web server from the OpenBSD project, httpd, is very nice, it’s too basic for the needs of this website. That’s why it’s running nginx: a high performance web server with a relatively small footprint. Meganerd.nl uses a flat-file Content Management System (CMS) called Kirby.
